IN 1 HOUR : Memorize 101 Verses of Qur’an + Climb 101 Levels of Jannah

Memorize 101 verse of quran in 1 hour

Rabbi Zidnee Ilman
“My Lord! Increase me in knowledge.”

As the end of Ramadan draws closer we all are at some level suffering from “I did not do enough anxiety attacks”. The goals relating to Qur’an Memorization that we set before Ramadan have materialized only a 40% – 50%. Last 10 days are nearing their end. We all want to finish hard and finish sincerely. No one wants the thought of “I could have done more or better” haunt them on the day of Eid. We all want to be happy, we want to be proud and content of what we achieved during Ramadan and will inshaAllah carry forth for the entire year till we meet this beautiful blessed month again.

This ofcourse is the scenario of one group, the group that knows how to recite and memorize Qur’an. The other and often most neglected group , a group perhaps I belonged to few years back is the group that either does not know how to recite Qur’an or is not sure about their tajweed. The latter group has been seeing updates of people finishing Juzz Ammah or Tabarak or Surah Mulk or Surah Yaseen and are in pure dismay at their loss and how they wish they could do it too and benefit from Qur’an.

This article is an honest attempt to make both groups leave Ramadan “HAPPY + CONTENT + MORE KNOWLEDGEABLE”. My sincere intention is that my article is the genesis of many people being future Huffadh. A book that calls for self surrender and eternal guidance.

The time slot might vary from person to person and might not be exactly 1 HOUR, I pray Allah blesses your memorization and it takes less than an hour. InshaAllah if you follow this article with Ihsan (sincerity) you will have memorized 100+ Ayaat of Quran + Raised yourself 100 levels in Jannah. I am positive this will make you happy. May Allah accept and honor us all through His blessed Book – THE WISE QUR’AN.

Qur’an is not a book of knowledge primarily, it is not just information rather it is a book of guidance “Huda”(6:88) and a book of reminders “Dhikr”(80:11). Our lives will remain meaningless and ruined unless they are “guided” by the Qur’an. One of the major criticisms against Qur’an is that it’s repetitive, nearly 20% of the blessed Quran repeats itself. While the disbelievers are baffled and find this to be an excuse to reject Qur’an, we believers on the other hand need to understand this aspect of Qur’an in detail and reflect upon it earnestly.

That is the guidance of Allah by which He guides whomever He wills of His servants. But if they had associated others with Allah, then worthless for them would be whatever they were doing.
{Surah Al-Anam 6: Ayaah 88}

No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder;
{Surah Abasa 80: Ayaah 11}

The mechanism by which we are guided is remembrance or Dhikr, in other words if you want to remain guided you  and I need multiple reminders. That is why salaah is described as a reminder to remember Allah (20:14). The Question is do we need guidance?
Yes! We definitely do!

Indeed, I am Allah . There is no deity except Me, so worship Me and establish prayer for My remembrance.
{Surah Taha 20: Verse 14}

Before understanding the repetitive nature of Qur’an lets understand ourselves. Qur’an calls us “Insaan” linguistically speaking Insaan comes from the root word “nisyân” which means, “to forget”. And the second one is “unsiyah”, which means, “to relate, to love-be loved, to become close to”. Ibn Abbas radiallahu anhu said that al-insân is called so because of his forgetfulness. Our very name tells us about our nature, we are a forgetful lot.

Our nature is the very reason Allah says things in the Qur’an over and over again. What Allah reminds us of most in the Qur’an is the thing we tend to forget the most. The things that are hardest to internalize are the things that are mentioned most in the Qur’an.

In our times as we often complain “times filled with fitna” the need of Qur’an to be the center of our life is extremely urgent and compelling. We need to bring back all the reverence, love, longing and seriousness that the study and memorization of Qur’an demands.

We live in a world that believes in shortcuts. We prefer the easy or the short way out. Qur’an memorization needs sincere dedicatio. Qur’an study and memorization is a serious business, one needs to abandon totally, in thoughts and deed to what Qur’an as to offer, it calls for complete submission. Not many are capable of complete submission and often need a jumpstart or kickstart towards this blessed and arduous journey. This article will help you  Memorize and understand 1oo+ Verses in just 30 Minutes or more. It will give you a glimpse of the beauty, magnificence and excellence of Qur’an. Most importantly it will prove to you that Qur’an is EASY TO MEMORISE! I pray this article paves a greater path and journey of Hifdh ul Qur’an for many.

In our worldly life before appearing for any exam/test we prepare ourselves with the syllabus. What’s worthy of reflection is, have we prepared or perfected ourselves in the syllabus that is needed for the “real” test of this transient, temporary duniya i.e., learning and understanding ‘The Blessed Qur’an’? And sooner or later Allah willing it’s this very understanding, memorizing, awareness and desire of Qu’ran that will be both a product and a stimulant in the resurgence of Islamic Tide.

There is a growing realization and emergency among Muslim youth to understand and live by Qur’an, though there is lack of motivation or rather the motivation is hindered and curtailed behind mind blocks that the Qur’an is “tough”, I don’t have “enough time”, even if I memorize it I wont be able to “remember it”! Reflect on the following 3 Verses of Qur’an and your doubts will be cleared forever – inshaAllah.

IT IS EASY – And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then isthere any that will remember (or receive admonition)? (54:17)
VALUE TIME – By time, indeed, mankind is in loss.
ALLAH WILL AID IN REMEMBRANCE – We shall make you to recite (the Quran), so you  shall not forget (it).

Everyone around us is trying to maximize his or her good deeds during Ramadan, and what better deed than memorizing Qur’an – Verbatim word of Allah. Due to repetition in the Qur’an memorizing one verse can equal memorizing 31 or 5 verses in some instances. Lets benefit from the repetition of Qur’an and memorize verses that repeat and extract guidance from them. Listed below are 19 Verses that equal 101 total verses and 101 levels higher in jannah.

“The one who was devoted to the Quran will be told on the Day of Resurrection: ‘Recite and ascend (in ranks) as you used to recite when you were in the world. Your rank will be at the last ayah you recite.’”
– Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him).
[Abu Dawud & Tirmidhi]

This Verse appears in the Qur’an 2 times.

Ola-ika AAala hudan minrabbihim waola-ika humu almuflihoon
Those are on [right] guidance from their Lord, and it is those who are the successful.
{Surat Al Baqarah 2 : Ayaah 5}
{Surat Luqman 31 : Ayaah 5}

Explanation and Reflection
Successful refers to all bounties that proceed from Allah. They may be physical gifts e.g. food, clothing, houses, gardens, wealth etc or intangible gifts e.g. influence, power, birth and the opportunity flowing from it, health and talents etc or spiritual gifts e.g. insight into good and evil, understanding of men, the captivity of love etc. We are to use all in humility and moderation. We need to give them out for the contribution of well being of others. We are to be neither ascetics nor luxurious sybarites, neither selfish misers nor thoughtless prodigals.
The right use of one kind leads to an increase in that and other kinds, and that is prosperity.
They get these blessings because they submit their will to god’s will and receive his guidance. They will do well in this life(from the highest standpoint) and they will reach their true goal in the future.

This Verse appears in the Qur’an 12 times.

Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen
Woe, that Day, to the deniers
{Surah Mursalat 77: Verses 15, 19,24,28,34,37,40,45,47,49}{Surah Mutaffifin 83 : Verse 10}

With a slight difference

Fawaylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen
Then woe, that Day, to the deniers,

{Surah At-Tur 52:Ayah 11}

Explanation and Reflection
That day will be the day of woe to the wrong doers described in two aspects the rebels against god and god’s truth, just as it will be a day of joy and thanksgiving to the righteous, who are described in three aspects in verses 17 and 28. The rebels are here described as being those who openly defy truth and plunged into wrong doing or who trifled with truth who jested with serious matters. Who had not the courage to plunge openly into wrong doing but who secretly took profit out of it. Who wasted their life in doubts and petty quibblers. If is difficult to say which attitude did more harm to themselves and to others. Both are aspects of deep seated sin and rebellion. But the meroy of god was open to all if they had repented and amended their lives.

This Verse appears in the Qur’an 8 times.

Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu arraheem
And indeed, your Lord – He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
{Surah Ash-Shu-ara 26: Verses 9,68,104,122,140,159,175,191}

Explanation and Reflection
One who is able to carry out his will and plans. And verily your Lord, He is truly The All-Mighty means, the One Who has power over all things, to subdue and control them. The Most Merciful means, towards His creation, for He does not hasten to punish the one who sins, but He gives him time to repent, and if he does not, then He seizes him with a mighty punishment. Abu Al-Aliyah, Qatadah, Ar-Rabi` bin Anas and Ibn Ishaq said: “He is Almighty in His punishment of those who went against His commands and worshipped others besides Him.” Sa`id bin Jubayr said: “He is Most Merciful towards those who repent to Him and turn to Him.”

This Verse appears in the Qur’an 4 times.

Walaqad yassarna alqur-ana liththikrifahal min muddakir.
And We have certainly made the Qur’an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?
{Surah Al-Qamar 54: Verses 17,22,32,40}

Explanation and Reflection
While the Qur’an sums up to the highest philosophy of the inner life, its simple direction for conduct are plain and easy to understand and act upon. Is this not in itself a part of the Grace of Allah? And what excuse is there for any one to fail in receiving admonition?

This verse appears in the Qur’an 31 times.

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
{Surah Ar-Rahman 55 :Ayaat 13,16,18,21,23,25,28,30,32,34,36,38,40,42,45,47,49,51,53,55,57,59,61,63,65,67,69,71,73,75,77}

Explanation and Reflection
Both the pronoun “your” and the verb “will ye deny” are in the Arabic in the dual number. The whole surah is a symphony of duality which leads upto unity. All creation is in pairs. Justice is the conciliation of two opposites to unity, the settlement of the unending feud between right and wrong. The things and concepts mentioned in the surah are in pairs ; man and outer nature; sun and moon; herbs and trees; heaven and earth; fruit and corn; human food and fodder for cattle; things nourishing and things sweet smelling; and so on throughout the surah. Then there is man and jinn.
“Will ye deny?” That is, fail to acknowledge either in word or thought or in your conduct. If you misuse god’s gifts or ignore them then it is equivalent to ingratitude or denial or refusal to profit by god’s infinite Grace.

VERSE 6, 7 & 8
These 3  verses together appear in the Qur’an 15times.

Ta-Seen-Meen [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings].
{Surah 26,28 : Ayaah 1}

Haa-meem [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings].
{Surah 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46 : Ayaah 1}

Alif,Laam,Meem [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings].
{Surah 2,3,29,30,31,32 : Ayaah 1}

Explanation and Reflection:  ‘Huruf-e-muqatta’at’ – The disjointed letters.
A large number of scholarly books have been written over the centuries on the possible meanings and probable significance of these disjointed letters the muqatta’at. Opinions have been numerous but without a final conclusion.
There is no reliable report of prophet Muhammad salallahu aleyhi wasallam having used such expressions in his ordinary speech, or his having thrown light on its usage in the Qur’an. And, more importantly, none of his Companions seemed to have asked him about it.
These letters are usually used in the Quran when one needs to pay attention. The Arabs knew these letters but dint know them in this fashion and it caught their attention. Only Allah knows what their true meaning is.

These verses appear in the Qur’an 5 times with a little change.

{Surat Al Hadid 57 : Ayaah 1}

Sabbaha lillahi ma fee assamawatiwama fee al-ardi wahuwa alAAazeezu alhakeem
Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth exalts Allah , and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
{Surah 59,61 : Ayaah 1}

Yusabbihu lillahi ma feeassamawati wama fee al-ardialmaliki alquddoosi alAAazeezi alhakeem
Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth is exalting Allah , the Sovereign, the Pure, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
{Surat Al Jumu’ah 62 : Ayaah 1}

Yusabbihu lillahi ma feeassamawati wama fee al-ardilahu almulku walahu alhamdu wahuwa AAala kullishay-in qadeer.
Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth is exalting Allah . To Him belongs dominion, and to Him belongs [all] praise, and He is over all things competent.
{Surat At Taghabun 64: Ayaah 1}

Explanation and Reflection
These verses are a part of  “The Musabbihat”. The Musabbihat are a group of 5 suwar (Pl. of Surah) from the Qur’an:
a) Surah 57 Al Hadid
b) Surah 59 Al Hashr
c) Surah 61 As Saf
d) Surah 62 Al Ju’muah
e) Surah 64 At Taghabun

They have the following characteristics :
a) These are all Madani suwar – revealed to Prophet  after he migrated.
b) They are short Suwar.
c) The common thing is that they all declare the perfection of Allah – Sabbaha (or yusabbihu) lil-lahi maa fi-samaawati wal-ardth – Let everything praise Allah that is in the heavens and the earth.

The purpose of “The Musabbihat” is to take a group of people/community that is losing its strength in faith and to strengthen/revive/refresh it. These ayaat remind us that everything declares Allah’s Praises and Glory because Allah’s Rehma extends to all of His creation. He sends His revelation and message for the benefit of ignorant and unlettered as well as for those who have learning in their midst. These ayaat remind us that Allah has dominion & Power over all things.

This Verse appears in the Qur’an 6 times.

Wayaqooloona mata hathaalwaAAdu in kuntum sadiqeen
And they say, “When is [the fulfillment of] this promise, if you should be truthful?”
{Surat 10,21,27,3436,67, : Ayaat 48, 38,71,29,48,25}

 Explanation and Reflection
This ayaat is a question that is constantly posed by the disbelievers. We are informed in the Qur’an that humans are creatures of Haste. Allah grants us respite so that we may have extra chances of returning to Him or of repentance. Here the unbelievers are impatient, they mean “Bring on the Punishment quickly, so that we may see what you say is true”. The utter foolishness of their disbelieve and haste is highlighted here. In reality when the punishment actually descends from Allah they will want more time or will want it to delay. They do not realize the terrible future that awaits them. This question is to mock and redicule the Prophet  but what they are mocking at now will be in a position to mock them in due time.

This Verse appears in the Qur’an 2 times.

Wallayli itha yaghshaha
And [by] the night when it covers

{Surat Ash Shams 91: Ayaah 4}

Wallayli itha yaghsha
By the night when it covers

{Surat Al Layl 92 : Ayaah 1}
Explanation and Reflection
Night in both these Suwar (Ash Shams and Al Layl) is contrasted with day. And in both suwar the answer or relation of this contrast follows. We need to reflect, what contrast can be greater than night and day? When the night appears the sun’s light is hidden but not lost. The sun stays at his place and will come forth the next in all its glory. The same way with us humans from time to time we might fall into darkness and Allah’s light can be obscured from us but we must strive hard to put ourselves in a position to reach it in all its glory. Just like the night and day are the phases of our emaan. Sometimes we feel darkness setting in just like the night but if we try harder and be righteous inshaAllah we shall arrive under light of the day with all of Allah’s glory and rehman upon us.
This Verse appears in the Qur’an 2 times

Wala talbisoo alhaqqa bilbatiliwataktumoo alhaqqa waantum taAAlamoon
And do not mix the truth with falsehood or conceal the truth while you know [it].
{Surat Al Baqarah 2 : Ayaah 42}

Ya ahla alkitabi limatalbisoona alhaqqa bilbatili wataktumoonaalhaqqa waantum taAAlamoon
O People of the Scripture, why do you confuse the truth with falsehood and conceal the truth while you know [it]?
{Surat Al Imran 3 : Ayaah71}

Explanation and Reflection
There are many ways of preventing the access of people to the truth. One is to tamper with it, or trick it out in colors of falsehood; Half-truths are often more dangerous than obvious falsehoods. Another is to conceal it altogether. Those who are jealous of a man of God, whom they actually see before them, do not allow his credentials or virtues to be known, or vilify him, or conceal facts which would attract people to him. When people do this of set purpose against their own light (of which we are yourselves witnesses) they are descending to the lowest depths of degradation and they are doing more harm to themselves than to anyone else.

This verse appears in the Qur’an 3 times.

Fasabbih bismi rabbika alAAatheem
So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.
{Surat Al Haqqah 69, Surat Al Waqi’ah 56: Ayaah 52, Ayaat 74 &96}

Explanation and Reflection
The explanation and reflection of this verse is very simple. We need to realize the absolute gift and bounty that Allah has bestowed upon us through the revelation of Qur’an. It becomes our duty to understand it and be grate to Allah. We must glorify and celebrate His praises in 3 ways:
a) Thought,
b) Action,
c) And Deed.

This verse appears in the Qur’an 2 times.

Al qariah
The Striking Calamity
{Surat Al Qari’ah 101 : Ayaah 1}

Mal qariah
What is the Striking Calamity?
{Surat Al Qari’ah 101 : Ayaah 2}

Explanation and Reflection
These verses remind us of “The day of Calamity” or “The day of Noise and Clamour”. It is the day of judgment. Our realities will have changed forever. Everything we have seen or witnessed will be overthrown with a tremendous convulsion. All our present landmarks, the mountains, the seas and everything else will be lost. It will be a stunning experience. This “Al Qaria” will be the dawn of a new world of true and permanent values, in which every human deed will have its true and just consequences, as if weighed in a balance.

This verse appears in the Qur’an 2 times.

Kalla sayaAAlamoon
No! They are going to know.

Thumma kalla sayaAAlamoon
Then, no! They are going to know.
{Surat An Naba 78: Ayaah 5}

Explanation and Reflection
These verses are a threat and warning to the disbelievers who were questioning and disputing about the Day of Judgment. The disbelievers are in dispute with the believers about its authenticity. In verses that follow Allah gives examples and proves how He in all His Might and Glory is capable of anything.

This verse repeats itself in the Qur’an 2 times.

Fa-inna maAAa alAAusri yusra
For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.
{Surat Ash Sharh 94: Ayaah 5}

Inna maAAa alAAusri yusra
Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.
{Surat Ash Sharh 94: Ayaah 6}
Explanation and Reflection
Whenever there is repetition in the Qur’an it is for “extra” emphasis. Whatever hardships and toils that we encounter, Allah always provides us with a solution, a way out and a relief, a way that leads to ease, comfort and happiness. The conditions that apply to this path are faith and patience.

This verse appears in the Qur’an 2 times.

Wala antum AAabidoona maaAAbud
Nor are you worshippers of what I worship.
{Surat Al Kafirun 109 : Ayaat 3,5}
Explanation and Reflection
These verses are addressed to the disbelievers. Showcasing how they do not worship Allah, alone, without partners. And how they do not follow the commands of Allah and his prescribed way of worship; indeed they have invented a thing for themselves out of the promptings of their own souls.
This verse appearts in the Qur’an 2 times.

Kalla sawfa taAAlamoon
No! You are going to know.
{Surat At Takathur 102 : Ayaah 3}

Thumma kalla sawfa taAAlamoon
Then no! You are going to know.
Explanation and Reflection
Hassan al basri said that these 2 verses are one promise followed by another. The promise that they are soon going to know the reality of life. How the illusion of worldly gain has diverted them from the pursuit of hereafter. The pending doom will settle when they visit their graves. Ad Dahhak said that Allah is addressing the unbelievers in the 3rd verse and the believers in the 4th verse.
This verse does not repeat. But it is pertinent that you memorize this to always remember that Allah will make you recite, revise and retain what you have memorized so far or what you intend to memorize in the future.

Sanuqri-oka fala tansa
We will make you recite so you shall not forget,
{Surat Al A’la 87 : Ayaah 6}
Explanation and Reflection
This verse is a reassurance to Prophet  and mankind at large. Though our beloved Prophet  was unlettered, the message given to him would be preserved in his heart and in the hearts of men.
Bi’ithnillah this can be the beginning of Qur’an memorization for all those who want to be future huffadh. A jumpstart towards a life long commitment of understanding and living Qur’an. Always remember the best form of remembrance is the word of Allah and the best means to get closer to Him subhanahu wata’ala is through his own speech.

I pray that Allah accepts this work from me and forgives me for any mistakes that may be present. And that this article is in someway a means of inspiration and help for us to come out of darkness, forth into the light and guidance of the blessed Qur’an.

 O Allah, I am your slave, the son of your slave. My forelock is in Your Hand. Your judgment of me is inescapable. Your trial of me is just. I am invoking You by all the names that You call Yourself, that You have taught to anyone in Your creation, that You have mentioned in Your Book, or that You have kept unknown.Let the Qur’an be delight of my heart, the light of my chest, the remover of my sadness and the pacifier of my worries.

IMPORTANT: If you know other verses that repeat in the Qur’an mention them under comments so that others can benefit as well – jazak Allah khair!
