“GEM SHEET FOR BUSY MUSLIMS”

  • Allahumasoli’ala Muhammad wa’ala alih Muhammad. Kamasoilata’ala Ibrahim wa’ala alih Ibrahim innaka hamidummajid. Allahummabarik’alah Muhammadiw wa’ala alihi Muhammad. Kamabarakta’ala Ibrahim wa’ala alih Ibrahim innaka hamidummajid.
  • Assalamualaika ayuhannaubiyu warahmatullah hita’alawabarakatu – the salam you send to the prophet SAWS reaches him.
  • Prophet SAWS says, that so long as you pray upon me, there’s an angel praying for you.
  • So now when you’re saying this doa, you know it is reaching to prophet wasalam and you also know that there’s an angel also praying for you.
  • who is the standard here?  Ibrahim alaihisalam. We’re saying O Allah send blessings and prayers upon the prophet Muhammad wasolliwasalam just like you did Ibrahim. So that teaches the status of Ibrahimalaihisalam. And he is, that consider by the other ulama’ the second greatest prophet after prophet Muhammad wasalam.
  • Musa A.S says : O Allah, I have seen that you have praised Ibrahim and Isyak and Ya’cob in in your books. I’ve seen that you frequently praised them. So by what virtue did they earned the blessings of being praised in your books.
  • Allah said – Ibrahim he was never given a choice between two things except he chose, me.what does that mean? Allah says, ‘Waidibitalaa ibrahima robbuhu bikalimatin faa’tam mahun’. Ibrahim alaisalam was tested by Allah s.w.t. and he completed all the tasks.
  • He was told, leave your wife and child in the desert where there’s no food or water. He said I will do it. He was told to slaughter his son, he did it. Now, what’s interesting is its kind of, if you just look at it from a rational perspective, is it rational to slaughter your son? No. Is it rational to leave your wife and child in the middle of the deserts? No. But why did he do it? Because Allah told him to do it. And when Allah tells us something samaknakwaatallah we listen, and we obey.
  • A person asked prophet saws what if out of my entire dua, how much should I make dua for you? and what if I entirely pray for you. Prophet SAWS replied ‘If you do that, Allah will take care of all of your concerns and all of your sins will be forgiven’. When we send salam upon the prophet, brothers and sisters, this has a lot of power. Don’t underestimate this part of du’a.
  • After we send salam on the Prophet then we ask Allah whatever we want to ask. Ibn Mas’ud, he says that I was praying and the presence of the Prophet, Abu Bakar, Umar, and I said tahiyat, and then salah ibrahimmiyya and then the Prophet wassalam told me when I did that, he told me, he said, ‘Ask and you shall be given ask and you shall be given’. Hasan sahih
  • Before you say salam out of salah, the Prophet wassalam says, seek refuge from Allah in four things “Allahumma inni azubika mina ‘azabijahannam wa min ‘azabilqabri wa min fitnatilmahyaa walmaamati wa min sharifitnatil masiihiddajjal”. O Allah! I seek refuge in You from four things, from the punishment of Hellfire and the punishment of the grave and the fitnah of life and death, the trial of life and death, and I seek refuge in You from the trial of the Masihiddajjal.

  • Every prophet in the history of the world. The Prophet wassalam said that there will come a time when you do not hear Dajjal being spoken about from the mimbar. When you don’t hear any khutbah about Dajjal, then know that his coming is imminent.
  • When we’re saying “Assalamualaikumwarahmatullah” at the end of prayer it’s like you’re leaving this journey of salah and coming back into this world.

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. Alhamdullilahirabbil alamin wasolatussalam warasullilah wa’ala alihiwasohbihi ajmain.

We finished the tashahud now we are on salah ibrahimiyya and we’ll quickly and we’ll quickly go through this Insya-Allah Ta’ala. So what do we say, we say Allahumasoli’ala Muhammad wa’ala alih Muhammad. Kamasoilata’ala Ibrahim wa’ala alih Ibrahim innaka hamidummajid. Allahummabarik’alah Muhammadiw wa’ala alihi Muhammad. Kamabarakta’ala Ibrahim wa’ala alih Ibrahim innaka hamidummajid. O Allah send prayers upon Muhammad s.a.w. and upon the followers of Muhammad s.a.w. just as You sent prayers upon Ibrahim and upon the followers of Ibrahim, certainly, You are full of praise and majesty. O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the followers of Muhammad s.a.w. just as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim. Certainly, You are full of praise and majesty.

And again its in your handouts, if you don’t have it memorised.

Number one. Some points we can take, number one, as we already mentioned as we said Assalamualaika ayuhannaubiyu warahmatullah hita’alawabarakatu, that the salam you send to the prophet reaches him. So just like you’re feeling that I am sending a salam and the prophet are returning my salam to me when you say that part after ‘shaham’ feel the same thing when you say this doa. This is the whole spelling is a doa and the prophet wasalam. So that’s number one.

Number two. The prophet wasalam and and the hadith has recorded that ‘musnan imam Ahmad’ in the hassan ‘hadith’, he says, Maminabdihiwasoli alai illa solatalaihi malaika madaman musolli alai falyakil minabdil danahika uniakfur. He says, that so long as you pray upon me, there’s an angel praying for you.

So now when you’re saying this doa, you know it is reaching to prophet wasalam and you also know that there’s an angel also praying for you. So again, it increases our khusyuk. We would like, wow there’s an angel praying for me, at this positon of praying. That’s awesome. So that’s number two.

Number three. Whats interesting  in what we learn about this from this doa,is who is the standard here? who is the standard? Ibrahim alaihisalam. We’re saying O Allah send blessings and prayers upon the prophet Muhammad wasolliwasalam just like you did Ibrahim. So that teaches the status of Ibrahimalaihisalam. And he is, that consider by the other ulama’ the second greatest prophet after prophet Muhammad wasalam. But you know whats interesting in naration Musa a.s., he tells a lost panel to Allah. He says O Allah, I have seen that you have praised Ibrahim and Isyak and Ya’cob in in your books.I’ve seen that you frequently praised them. So by what virtue did they earned the blessings of being praised in your books. So Allah revealed to Ibrahima to Musa alahisalam,he’s asked to Ibrahim, what was the characteristics of Ibrahim that costs him to be praised in the books of Allah

He has asked for Ibrahim he was never given a choice between two things except he chose, me.what does that mean? Allah says, ‘Waidibitalaa ibrahima robbuhu bikalimatin faa’tam mahun’. Ibrahim alaisalam was tested by Allah s.w.t. and he completed all the tasks.

He was told, leave your wife and child in the desert where there’s no food or water.

So whats interesting now is you find us again ‘plagainna muslim  umah’ people and rationalising everything. You know what? In this day and age, its 2012. I can never afford a BMW except if I take the interest loan got to pay interest on the car. You know Allah wants ease for us, ;you’ll need Allah to become a useful wa’allah’. You need to ‘become a wasallah to solve difficulty’ Masha’Allah. I’ll take the loan. You know, this is erm, in my state where I came from it’s a big problem with the sisters. Everybody says hijab is culture. I don’t know where this came from. Hijab is not culture. Hijab is a command of Allah. But it’s culture so ya.

The believer Ibrahim alaihisalam what gave him the distinction of being praised in the books of Allah is whenever a decision was made, a decision was to be made, he chose Allah. And so brothers and sisters, what’s more, let me ask this one, what’s more rational?

To pray five times a day or to slaughter your son? Ibrahim listened but do we listen? What’s more rational, what’s more easier to understand, to wear hijab or to leave your wife and child in the middle of the deserts? But we believe that Ibrahim did everything and submitted to Allah but yet when it comes to our lives we don’t apply the same standards. I’m gonna rationalised everything I’m wanna say everything is no. I didn’t even thought he says that if the religion is based on rationalisation then when it comes for wiping the wudu’, when we wipe our feet, he says we wipe the bottom of our feet coz that’s dirty. But what the Prophet Wassalam do, he wiped the top so we wipe the top. So we whatever Allah and his prophets tell us, we submit to. No more questions asked. That is the best of meaning, that’s the meaning of Lailaha illah muhammadurasullulah. Now, when we’re, when we’re, a couple more points, and then we’ll move on is

Ubaid umkaab, he goes to the Prophet wassalam, he asked him  Ya Rasullulah how much can ‘Ajaul lakamilsalati’ how much of my du’a, even though he used the word salah which means du’a. How much of my du’a should I send blessings upon you? Let’s say he’s going to make du’a for ten minutes. How long should I make? Do you think I should make a quarter of it upon You? Like two and a half minutes? And he says do whatever you want but if you increase it it’s better for you. He says do whatever you want but if you increase it it’s better for you. What about two-thirds, six minutes and forty seconds out of ten minutes I’m spending making du’a for you? That’s only thirty  three percent for myself. Prophet wassalam says if you want you can go ahead and do that but if you increase it, it’s better for you. So then he said, he says, OK what if I make all of my du’a for you? All of ten minutes, I don’t even get to what I want to ask? I just make all of my du’a ‘Assalamualannabiy’

He sends salam upon the Prophet wassalam. The Prophet wassalam says if you do that, ‘Izan tukfahammuk wayurlakazanbuk’. If you do that, Allah will take care of all of your concerns and all of your sins will be forgiven. Subhannallah so when we send salam upon the prophet, brothers and sisters, this has a lot of power. Don’t underestimate this part of du’a and now we learn the etiquette of du’a, we praise Allah, then we send salam on the Prophet then we ask Allah whatever we want to ask. Hasan sahih in the books of Imam Tarmidzi. So what does that mean brothers and sisters, as I mentioned that you know, this part of salah is like the cherry on top, this is the part where Allah gives us the opportunity before we end this beautiful of salah where we’ve talked to Allah, we’ve asked Allah

and everything, before you leave this prayer, Allah is giving you the opportunity before you end, one more time, ‘Ask me whatever you want, I will give you it to you. Ask me whatever you want’. It’s a time when du’a is answered. It’s a beautiful blessing from Allah s.w.t. Just like you know when you’re sitting with your best friend. Your best friend says ‘hey, before you leave, you need anything else?’ This is how Allah loves us. He asks do you need anything else? Now, specifically there is one du’a that the Prophet wassalam taught and this is in your handouts.

One, before you say tasbih, before you say salam out of salah, the Prophet wassalam says, he says, seeks refuge from Allah in four things “Allahumma inni azubika mina ‘azabijahannam wa min ‘azabilqabri wa min fitnatilmahyaa walmaamati wa min sharifitnatil masiihiddajjal”. O Allah! I seek refuge in You from four things, from the punishment of Hellfire and the punishment of the grave and the fitnah of life and death, the trial of life and death, and I seek refuge in You from the trial of the Masihiddajjal.

Every salah we should make this du’a (in sahih Muslim). Now the question that begs to be asked. Thoyyib, I understand fitnah of life, fitnah of death, fitnah of the trial of Hellfire, the punishment of the grave but what about Masihiddajjal, why do we say masihiddajjal in every single prayer, we seek refuge in Allah from this trial? The Prophet wassalam he said there is no prophet has ever sent his nation except that he talked to them about Dajjal. Every prophet in the history of the world. The Prophet wassalam said that there will come a time when you do not hear Dajjal being spoken about from the mimbar. When you don’t hear any khutbah about Dajjal, then know that his coming is imminent. You know the sahabah said one time the Prophet talked about Dajjal so much that we thought he was outside of Madinah trying to come in. But nowadays, a khutbah is given about Dajjal what happen? People will go to the Imam and say

Sheikh, keep it real man.Talk about real issues, why talk about Dajjal? Really Dajjal out of all things you can talk of topics, Dajjal? The Prophet wassalam said this is serious, he says, the one, when the time comes when he (dajjal) is not spoken about on the mimbar then know his coming is imminent we are at that time. You never hear khutbah about Dajjal. But this was a serious thing. The Prophet wassalam he says it so serious that. He’ll come at a time of drought, so there would be no food or water and he will command the sky to rain and it will rain. He will command the Earth to bring forth it’s fruits and it will bring forth it’s fruits. A man will come to him and he will tell him believe in me and he will say no. He will say OK fine, I’m going to resurrect your parents and he will, a Jinn will come in the form of his father and mother who have died already and say Oh my son, oh my daughter, follow him. We have died and found he is the true God. What a fitnah! You see your own mother and father who has already died and they’re telling you, follow Dajjal.

This is serious. So we make in our du’a, in every single salah, we ask Allah to protect us from the fitnah of Masihiddajjal. Now we say to end the prayer after this cherry on top, after we get to make whatever du’a we want, we say “Assalamualaikum warahmatullah assalamualaikum warahmatullah” and we end the prayer. Now as in many reflections on this, the only thing I have been able to learn from my teacher, he said that, one of my teachers, Sheikh Abdul Hasan, our teacher, he says, subhanallah, “Innasalahtih akhirah”. Salah you know we’ve talked about the amazing journey of salah. Isn’t that amazing? Like if we could internalise these things, our lives will be different. It’s like now we’re saying “Assalamualaikumwarahmatullah” it’s like you’re leaving this journey of salah and coming back into this world. You say salam and you leave this journey of salah and you come back into the journey of this world.
